One of my little girls will be immigrating next week to Australia. A couple of months ago we went onto her new schools website as a class just to check it out. While we were scrolling I saw that they were also an iPad school, so I immediately emailed them asking if we could do a little video exchange. My little poppet has been anxious about the move so I thought it would be great for them to “meet” her and for her to “meet” them. Obviously I would pick the moment to embark on this task when I was moving house and classroom and having school birthday fun days and speech evenings and building opening etc. I like to keep things spicy. So the quick little project that should have taken one day took about 5 weeks. Time management is not my strong point. Anyway, at last I was able to send it out. And now we wait for our one in return.
The lesson(s) went a little like this
- Divide class into groups
- Get groups to pick locations to film at and write the script for Ali to say on camera
- Film in locations
- Wait 4 weeks
- Edit film
- Dropbox with love
So before you watch please note we were not aiming for any film production awards or sound and lighting Oscars, this was done quickly.
I will totally do this again for any of my leaving children, it’s fun!
