Lesson: Art project on theme “Monarchies around the world”
CAPS: Life skills: Improvise and interpret
Time: 3 x 1 hour lessons
Would I do it again? YES!
With this terms theme, we allocated each girl a member from one of the royal families around the world (there a loads). They had to (at home) investigate some facts about their Queen or Princess and bring this information to school. We host a high tea every year where we invite the grade 3’s to our tea and share everything we know about our Princess/ Queen. It’s really fun. I eat so much cake and samosas. For art on the day the girls draw, colour and paint a “self portrait”. This year I thought, after seeing it all over the show, that this was the perfect way to use Chatterpix. Oh boy did they have fun.
Lesson 1: Draw, colour and paint picture
Lesson 2: Have girls look at Chatterpix app. We played around with multiple pictures, frames, icons and filters.
Lesson 3: Record information collected on the princess or queen.
They came out SO well. We watched the all in class and all my girls were so proud of their information. I used it not only as an art assessment mark, but also for speaking and remembering.
