CAPS: Multiply numbers 1 to 10 by 2, 5, 3, 4 to a total of 50
Time: 1 hour
Would I do it again: Yes, but maybe with a little more structure.
We have been looking at multiplication a lot this term and I wanted to check who really understood
1) The facts of multiplication
2) How to define in context using a circle map (from the Thinking Map series)
3) How to use the information off the circle map accurately.
Draw a circle map to define in context everything we know about 2x tables. We have had many conversations about multiplication leading up to this point.
Use the Tellagami app to report back the findings.
Now this actually was a really quick lesson that had value, but the weaker kids really do need guiding. I hate giving examples as then I usually receive 22 replicas of my example. But when having to recite information that is not in sentence form, and in a conversational “teaching” way a little guidance is needed. I think they got the idea by the end and it was really good consolidation of the facts of 2x tables.
I think it made them think.
We will have a chat to reflect today and see.
